Entrust and landfill tax credits.
We operate a landfill credits scheme funded from the operation of Margetts Pit. Landfill Tax was introduced in October 1996 and current regulations provide for a proportion of the taxes collected by Landfill Operators to be used for Environmental Projects. The Environmental Projects selected for support need to comply with specific 'approved objects' in the Regulations.
The purposes of the scheme are;
- To encourage the use of more sustainable waste management practices and technologies.
- To encourage partnerships between landfill operators and the local communities.
