Aylesford Newsprint manufactures 100% recycled premium quality newsprint, which is highly regarded by publishers throughout the UK and Europe.
To make a quality product we need a constant supply of good quality recovered newspapers and magazines. To achieve this we work closely with our suppliers, offering guidance and support where appropriate, rewarding those that meet or exceed our quality specification, via our bonus scheme.
What Paper do we accept?
In addition to newspapers and magazines, we also accept;
• Junk mail
• Travel brochures
• White envelopes (with or without windows)
• Domestic office and printer paper
• White directories and catalogues
• Shredded paper
• White board (brochure covers)
All paper must be fresh, clean and dry
Fresh
• We like paper to be as fresh as possible - if ink has been on paper for a significant length of time it fixes onto the fibres, making it difficult to remove.
Clean
• Paper fibres which have been in contact with contaminants such as food or dirt, or which have been burnt cannot be cleaned and are unsuitable for recycling.
Dry
• Wet paper begins to rot and degrade at the mill prior to use, weakening the fibres. During the rotting process the catalase enzyme is produced and this counteracts against a number of our chemical fibre cleaning processes.
We appreciate that paper can become damp, particularly in the winter months, and can tolerate moisture at a minimum level. Please download our moisture policy.
We continually conduct material trials to expand the specification of acceptable paper.
